How to get downloaded games from the sony store on your PSP without updating?

I have custom firmware on my PSP and I just downloaded a game off of the Sony Store, I had to pay for it, now its telling me that I have to update to be able to play the game, but then I won’t have custom firmware and won’t be able to play homebrew games :( can anyone help please? it will be greatly appreciated.

Im really sorry to say it but if the game you downloaded requires you to update then (if you want to play it) you have to update it goes for the ps3 as well. If the software dosent support it then you can play it so you will have to lose your firmware if you want to play your game all i can say is sorry and good luck to you

Either upgrade to a higher custom firmware. Or use this guide

You can’t use the game without updating but if you want to keep your custom firmware then just update to the latest version of custom firmware which at the moment is 4.01M33-2
