The DS is more user-friendly and kid friendly. it’s also more popular to the age group of 6-13 year olds. It’s price is cheaper than the PSP, and it comes in different colors while the PSP comes in one color. You can play other DS users via wifi only. The DS doesn’t have wifi connection compatibility to surf the internet.

On the other hand, the PSP has better graphics than the DS, but it has far less titles when it comes to games. You can surf the web, as well as play MP3 music on your system. You can also take pictures(camera sold seperatly) and store them on your system or just transfer it to your computer. You can also play videos or movies, depending on how big your memory stick is.

all in all, it’s a very hard decision to make. but i have both, and that’s how i satisfied my wants lol

but hopefully that help a little. those are just the basic info i thought you might want to know

I think the PSP is more efficient for more mature people because it has many features like MP3, WiFi (internet), video and photo storage. The DS I think would be better for an 8 year old personally. I have a PSP and my brother has a DS. I strongly think the DS would be a better choice. Later on if he/she gets older, you can consider a PSP or whatever system they have in the future.

Never played a PSP but I do have a DS and can recommend it.
Graphics, movies, music etc are PSP’s strengths, but DS has alot of variety of games, and a better battery life.
You can even buy MP3 player and internet browser add on for DS.
The younger generation may not care, but the DS plays GameBoy Advance games too, and the DS games don’t generally have wait while the game loads.

I think the DS seems like a lot of fun, the PSP is more serious looking, the DS also has it’s edutainment games- I use mine mostly as a Jp/Eng dictionary at the moment.

No matter which you pick though, it’s advisable to avoid the game charts when picking games, movie tie-ins are usually awful ;)
